I just setup Searchdaimon on a VM. Everything works fine, but i have one problem:

When I index my Exchange 2003 Server, i can only search the subject line and the from and to fields. Im not able to search the mail content. When I look at the cached version, its empty.

Do i something wrong, or is there no possibility to index the content of the mails?

You should see the full email and attachment with Exchange 2003. Exchange 2003 is also a server we have in our test setup so this is something we actively check for.

This is not an issue we have come across before, but it sounds to me like the Exchange crawler is unable to unpack the .eml file it gets from the server. When we crawl Exchanges we get the subject line and the from and to fields as xml, but then we also have to “unpack” the email to gets it content (an email typically has several fields, like the text in html, text in plane text, header information etc. packed into one file).

Can you log into the console as root and execute “df -h” to see that the /tmp drive hasn’t been field up.

This seems not to be the Problem:

Is there a logfile, to see whats going on?

When I use your demo searchsite it seems that the content of the mails isn’t indexed also (but i don’t know the content to search for). Should I find text in the cached version?

This is strange, you should see text in the cache. I will look into it and get back to you.

We have traced this down to a bug in our software. A fix has been produced and we are testing it now.

I expect that we will have an installable version ready so you can test in about 24 hours. I will get back to you when I know more.

We have produced a fix for this. Eventually all installations will be automatically updated, but you can test this today already if you want to. Do so by:

* Download http://bbh-001.boitho.com/div/boitho-bbdn-1.8.46-1.i386.rpm
* Then go to Software updates->Advanced in the admin panel and install the rpm
* For the changes to appear you will have to recrawl any collections that uses Exchange. Do so by go to manage and click the “force full crawl now” on the advanced management tab for the collections that uses the Exchange connector

We have tested this on our end, but haven’t had the time to do a so thorough test as we do to updates before they are send out to everybody as an automatic update. The update may contain bugs, so you may want to take s snapshot of your virtual machine before installing it.
