I’ve been trying to search this issue, and though I’ve seen many threads concerning people unable to begin a crawl, most that found the solution had nothing to do with my issue.
After an entire day of trying different things, I found out my issue seems to only occur with Windows 2012 machines, I was wondering if anyone had any idea about a setting in 2012 that would cause an error when trying to crawl.
I tried on a workstation, and it worked, which had me thinking it was the servers, however we have a few 2008 servers still, and out of curiosity I tried on one of them. I have two collections that look exactly alike, a folder called “test” on the root drive which is shared with two documents inside. One is on the 2008 server, another is on the 2012 server, and it only fails on the 2012 collection with
Could not submit crawling request.
Error: crawlsmb.c: Error! Could not open directory //<myserver>/Crawl_Test: for dir “//<myserver>/Crawl_Test” at src/crawlSMB/crawlsmb.c:563
(the name of the actual server has been replaced with <myserver>)
It would be appreciated if anyone had any tips on what could be causing this, as getting this program to work at all has been nothing but a headache so far.
