1. However, I am unable to set the time zone (or date and time, for that matter) so the crawl scheduler will work properly. I can’t find info about it in the documentation, nor how to ssh in to the console. There are a few places in the documentation where it says ‘ssh in as root’, but I haven’t found listed the default root password (which I need to change!)

2. Since I am not using active directory, I have entered the ‘fake’ AD credentials, but that doesn’t seem to allow me to change the ‘admin’ user password, which I’d like to do as well, as that’s public and known.

Please advise. Searchdaimon ES is a great product though. Is there an IRC room for it?

I think you have to use the console to change the timezone. I will have a developer look it up and get back to you.

Ssh is disabled by default, but you can log in as root if you can access the console. I haven’t used qemu-kvm my self, so don’t know how it’s done from there, but most virtualization software supports to see the console.

The default root password is l@nport3r47

To set the timezone:

* First login as root on the console.
* Install system-config-date by typing: yum install system-config-date
* Answer “y” to install the pre-requirements.
* Run system-config-date by typing: system-config-date

Ps: When login as root the password is .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Some systems don’t correctly map the @ character to the correct keyboard key. If you cant login, try to type the password a the login name, so you can see whats being typed ( the password get’s stared out).
