I just finished installing and reviewing Searchdaimon. For what I’ve seen it’s an excellent product et you did a great job !

However I still have a few issues, and in particular with some characters.

At first we thought it was an internalization issue (as we french people are using nasty characters like “é”, “à”, and so on ...). I tried different kind of tests, and it seems the problem might be linked to the underscore (‘_’) character.

If I simplify / translate my test case :

- create a test_file.txt with a simple word in it. Say “hello”
- create a testfile.txt with another word. Say “word”

- Search “hello” -> ok
- Search “word” -> ok
- Search “testfile” -> ok
- Search “test_file” -> KO

Has anyone experienced this behaviour ?

For the record, it seems that it was indeed due to the ‘_’ character, which is a special char in SQL Queries.
To work properly it must be escaped : ‘_’ -> ‘[_]’

So, I decided to add a tiny bit of javascript in the template, which did the job :

Searchdaimon don’t use sql, but some characters still have to be escaped correctly. “_” may have been incorrectly whitelisted, or not blacklisted. Now that the cause is known I will look into adding escaping directly in the webclient ( may be better to add it there in the long term, so it works with the api and for users without JavaScript ).
