Just tried it and became an error about the OpenSSH-package.
Could you tell me, what I can do or is it just not ready for install yet?

This looks strange. I just did a installed myself and did not experience any issues. I installed it on a VMware ESX server doing the following:

* Created a new virtual machine with 25GB disk and 1GB ram
* Download the http://www.searchdaimon.com/es/v3/CentOS-Base.repo iso file
* Boot from the newly downloaded CentOS-Base.repo iso file
* Selected Install or upgrade an existing system during boot, and pressed tab
* Added ks=http://www.searchdaimon.com/es/v3/ks.cfg

What iso file did you use to boot from?
Is this in a physical or virtual environment? If virtual, what hypervisor did you use (VMware, VirtualBox, kvm, other)?

okay, it was a complete failure of mine..
Our Sophos UTM blocked downloading the rpm-files.. Sorry for that.

It’s in a virtual environment. We are using Hyper-V v2 (Hyper-V Core Server 2008R2). Didnt got any issues before (3 RHEL 6.5 VMs are working productive on Hyper-V).

Yep, creating the firewall rule helped for now - it is installing (RHEL 6.5). I’ll tell you, if it worked.

EDIT: The setup was successful. It looks like its working properly. But its kinda funny that it says, its running on CentOS 6.5 although I installed it by kickstart on RHEL 6.5 - but I think that does not matter..

By the way, if anyone is interested in installing Searchdaimon on Hyper-V.. Just install it via kickstart and make sure your firewall is not blocking the downloads.
My settings:
  - 4 Cores of CPU
  - 4 GB RAM
  - 15 GB first hard disk
  - dynamic second hard disk, up to 125 GB

Great that you were able to figure this out. I haven’t seen an intruder detection system interfere with installing Searchdaimon before, but they do sometimes interfere with crawling.

Strange that the UTM did block the ssh client package though. Putty is normally the first program I install on a new Windows pc. Maybe the UTM fear ssh clients because an rouge internal user could use it to make an encrypted channel to an outside server and thus bypass the whole UTM system? But then you could use any web browser to do a post with https to send data in almost the same way…

When you use kikckstart to install Searchdaimon you are doing a net install, so I believe the cd is only used to boot and start the installation. Every package is downloaded from our website, so after a successful install it will be CentOS regardless of the cd used during the install.

Ah, okay, yes. Thats why its not RHEL now.. Okay - that doesn’t matter.
So I will try that now and I will look for any error.

Not strange, that are our firewall-rules I didn’t think to them. Sure, the users could do that via https, too. But so it is a bit more safety. We just want to have necessary ports opened. SSH is just opened for us in the IT, I didn’t say the UTM where the Searchdaimon-VM belongs to.

So.. I just saw that some services are not running..
Starting them manually via the webinterface is not working. They also can not be started via SSH.
I will look for that now.

I am posting the errors, maybe you are interested in that:

In webadmin the CrawlManager is called “crawlManager2” but there is just a service called “crawlManager” on the machine.

EDIT: Ok. Found out, “initlog” is not longer part of CentOS. How are you testing it on CentOS 6.5? Or do you have a workaround I dont have?
