Windows allows adding metadata (tags) to documents and images.

Under the ‘Description’ property for example, it’s possible to add Title, Subject, Tags and Comments.

I’ve tried adding these and crawling them with Searchdaimon but none of the metadata seems to be indexed.

The only information that seems to be stores is the file name (which is often non-descriptive).

Can Searchdaimon be configured to include document metadata when crawling?

Searchdaimon supports the Exif and ID3 metadata format. Thus are the one commonly used for images and audio format, and have covered most cases we have seen before.

Maybe your metadata is added into the file system, or uses some other metadata format. If you send me an example file to “rb [att] searchdaimon [dot] com” I can have a look and see if we can configure the software library we are using to extract the data you need.
