Looking at the urls.db in that folder it has a size slightly larger the 16 Mbs.

I’ve deleted the collection and restarted it with the same results.  Other collections have been fine so far however none of them have as large of a urls.db file.

Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated.  It appears to be a great product.

Is there any update for this issue? Are there any log files that would help? This looks like a promising product but this issue makes it unusable for us. I have read other forum posts where users have been able to crawl volumes of 400,000+ files so I know it’s not the number of files we are trying to crawl.

Any guidance is appreciated.

We have not been able to replicate this bug, but I doubt it is very common, so it should not stop you from testing Searchdaimon.

@mikep@swissarmy.com: I know that it has gone some time, but have you been able to work around this. If not, can you try to temporarily increase the amount of ram for the virtual machine? If this is a memory leak, as I suspect, increasing the ram should allow you to crawl more documents before the crawler crashes again.

@Runar, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and I are from the same organization. The VM currently has 64 GB of RAM which should be more than enough. I have watched the box during the crawl process, it typically has ~50 GB free.

Unfortunately memory leaks dos sometimes occur in search engine crawlers. Crawlers has to deal with many third-party libraries, both for file converting (for example to find a stable library to convert old WordPerfect files can be hard) and data access (for example so does the smb library not always clean up correctly after it self if one tries to open a file one don’t have access to).

Thus bugs are normally not a problem in most use cases, like making a file explorer where a user sits and click on one and one file, but in a crawler that shall access millions of files the errors can stack up quickly.

Thankfully so have we done a lot of improvements on this in the next version of Searchdaimon, that we released in beta today. Maybe you can try the new beta version instead, and see if the errors have been fixed. If not so will I try to help you debug it.
