I’ve ran this:
yum install perl-OLE-Storage_Lite.noarch perl-MIME-tools.noarch

Then reboot the appliance and ran a full crawl on one of my collection. However, the content of msg is still not showing up for that collection. Any idea? Thanks.

Did you do a full recrawl after you added this?

For what the ES is concerned the files has been indexed just find, so just adding the new file filter will not generate a recrawl of already crawled files. However all new MSG files should be crawled correctly from now on. If you want to recrawl the old you need to do a new crawl (be aware this will delete all old data, and crawl the collection again as it was just added).

Sorry for the inconvenience, but this does happen so rarely that we have not implemented any special method for only recrawling a single type of files.

I did a full recrawl for 1 collection only. Will that work or will I have to recrawl everything? I just wanted to make sure it works before starting a full recrawl as we have over 2 million documents crawled at the moment and will take a few days to do another full recrawl.

We are looking into this issue a little deeper and will come with a more official recommendation soon. Please stand by for that.

MSG files are supposed to be supported, but unfortunately it has stopped working because of a bug in an install script. We are planning an update later this week to address this.

However I have tested that you can update this manually by login in to the console as user root and run the following:

yum install perl-OLE-Storage_Lite.noarch perl-MIME-tools.noarch

Press “y” when prompted.

The root password will be viable on the console if you haven’t changed it.

After you have install as described above you will have to recrawl the collection where you have the MSG files. Do so from the administrator interface by going to manage for the collection and click on the “Force full crawl now” button under the “Advanced management” tab.
