When I perform a search against my SMB collection, the results returned have links that start with sdsmb:// and when I click on any of the result links nothing happens. I read through the document posted on how to add the chrome extension that allows file:// links to be open but all the results seem to be sdsmb:// links. Please advise.

What operating system and browser are you using?

Mac OSX Lion. I’ve tried searches on Chrome, Firefox and Safari with the same results.

Unfortunately so doesn’t most mac browsers support linking to windows file share. To work around this we have created an auto mounter that you can install on your mac to add support for this.

Unfortunately this is still a work in progress, so I can’t guarantee that it will work for you. But if you want to try it,  the auto mounter can be downloaded from http://www.searchdaimon.com/files/Automonter_SDSMB.zip .

Another option would be to use a web interface for the file share. That’s normally trivial to setup on the file server, but there are some differences between downloading a file through a web browser and opening a file through smb. Please see http://www.searchdaimon.com/documentation/C31/#differences_between_opening_and_downloading_a_file for an explanation.

Sorry to bump an old thread but is there any further progress on the automounter? Half of our estate is OSX based on El Capitan
